E-Tabs Press ReleaseFor immediate release : June 16th, 2000 E-Tabs and OpenSurvey to promote universal standard using XML for delivering tabulationsE-Tabs, the acknowledged leader in data delivery tools for the market research industry is proud to be leading the way with the OpenSurvey organization to develop a universal standard, based on XML data structure, for distributing survey results and tabulations across the Web and Corporate Intranets. Ed Ross, co-founder of OpenSurvey, is pleased to be working with E-Tabs on this initiative, "XML is an ideal medium for facilitating the interrogation and extraction of data across Web and Intranet platforms. E-Tabs' breadth of experience in developing a software package capable of handling many thousands of different format tabulations, and unique independence from any one particular MR software supplier, made them an ideal candidate to partner with on this initiative." E-Tabs is currently working with OpenSurvey to propose a DTD (Document Type Definition) that encapsulates the many facets of typical Market Research tabulation formats, and through which, 3rd party tabulation packages will be able to standardize their output. Benjamin Rietti, CEO of E-Tabs, expanded on this, "As the deployment of XML technology within the research industry is at a relatively early stage, we saw this as an ideal opportunity to draft a standard through which reports may be disseminated, regardless of the tabulation/analysis packages being used. We are delighted to be among the pioneers in this exciting new endeavor, in setting a standard that will ultimately be of great benefit to the entire industry." E-Tabs is currently developing an XML Writer, to complement its current Web Writer product that takes standard tabulations from Quantum, SPSS, Mentor and other packages, and automatically produces HTML pages.
