Music Animated

Video of the Month

A new way to enjoy classical music.

We’ve previously talked about dataviz for the visually impaired; well now we’ve found an animation that may help the hearing impaired enjoy music.

This video is an animated graphical score of the classical music piece, ‘The Rite of Spring’ by Stravinsky. It was created by synthesist Jay Bacal and music animator Stephen Malinowski to help non-musicians understand it. Each shape indicates a family of instruments and the colours indicate the pitch.

And as we think music is probably the most beautiful of all data, then of course we love seeing it visualized. You can enjoy this visual and audible overture below.
